The objectives
of "Leaves of Hope". |
| |
| Our primary objective
is to promote the social, medical and
physical well being of the Children of
Belarus. We seek to alleviate of the
consequences of poverty, sickness and
distress, by developing of programmes of
education and training that promote the
rights of children in accordance with the
United Nations Convention on the Rights of
the Child. |
| |
| Our secondary
objective is to promote an inclusive
approach to supporting disaffected young
people from England or Wales who are on the
fringes of drugs or delinquency, by
providing opportunities to undertake work in
another culture with children who have more
pressing material and emotional need.
|
| |
| Specifically we:
|
- Provide material,
practical and emotional help to support
natural parents and foster carers in
caring for children who would otherwise
be cared for in orphanages;
- Develop cross
cultural exchanges by involving socially
excluded youngsters in England and Wales
in the work of the Charity in Belarus;
- Provide
humanitarian aid to hospitals and
institutions with responsibility for
care of children. This includes basic
requirements of daily living and medical
equipment;
- Undertake
programmes of refurbishment in selected
hospitals, orphanages social and
rehabilitation centres for children;
- In consultation
with Ministries of Health, Education and
Social Protection, provide training for
teachers and social pedagogues, and
other care workers in orphanages and in
the community, in early years
intervention and development programmes
- Continue to
develop substitute family care
(fostering) for children who for
whatever reason cannot be cared for by
their natural parents through the
provision of training and support
programmes for carers and professionals;
- Provide
programmes of support for parents who
are caring for children with special
needs at home including setting up self
help and mentoring groups ;
- Involve
volunteers of all ages to promote the
work of the Charity in England and
Wales, and in Belarus;
|
| We are committed to
respecting the values and culture of the
country and people of Belarus and to remain
receptive to new ideas and to respond
sensitively to identified need; |
| |
| We have not got all
the answers and cannot meet all the need but
we guarantee to keep listening, learning and
growing with our Belarusian colleagues. |
| |
| We believe that
everyone should be treated with dignity and
respect with attention to their individual
circumstances. We seek to help Belarusians
help themselves in a way that suits their
own cultural values and beliefs. We seek
also to restore the self respect of the
disaffected young people of England and
Wales as they work for young children whose
needs are so pressing. We wish to do this
through involving ordinary people of all
ages from both communities, working as
volunteers wherever possible, developing
cross cultural links and projects that are
of mutual benefit. |
| |
| We work according to
the highest principles of good practice in
safeguarding and promoting the welfare of
all children with whom we are involved. |
